KESCO: Electricity tariffs have not increased, many consumers are heating with electricity
KESCO informs consumers and the public opinion that there has been no increase in final tariffs. Electricity tariffs have been revised and increased by approximately 15% compared to the 2022-2023 tariffs, by decision of the ERO, on April 1, 2023.
The increase in the value of bills in this winter month is the result of the increase in electricity consumption, especially among consumers who use electricity for heating. Electricity consumption in the amount of more than 800 kWh per month is billed at a higher rate, as shown in every customer bill. See the Decision of ERO.
The other effect of the increase in the value of the bill is that last year in the same period, the Government of Kosovo subsidized consumers who saved electricity.
Some consumers are getting higher bills because they are using excessive electricity for heating. KESCO is continuously committed to calling for saving and efficient use of electricity, sharing practical advice for each category of consumers, precisely to protect the consumer and the electrical system from these loads.
ERO has built a tariff structure divided into spending blocks. Thus, if you as a household consumer consume up to 800 kWh, then you are subject to only two blocks, day and night, which in winter start from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
During the day the price is 7.79 cents per kWh, while at night it is about 57 percent cheaper, as it is calculated at 3.34 cents per kWh.
However, prices vary for consumption above 800 kWh. If a customer consumes 1600 kWh, then the portion up to 800 kWh is calculated at the above-mentioned prices. The above part is calculated with 2 other rates: the high daytime one that goes 14.45 cents per kWh or 85.5 percent more expensive, and the night one is 6.81 cents per kWh or almost 104 percent more expensive than spending under 800 kWh.
All these prices are marked on every invoice for consumers. In addition to the physical bill, all the data on the kilowatts spent are also available in the eKESCO application, based on the meter and expenses of each customer.
